Automotive Service Worker

POSITION TITLE: Automotive Service Worker

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a high school diploma or its equivalency, trade or vocational school course(s); or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Must have experience in basic automotive maintenance and some experience in truck maintenance. A valid Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL with P and S endorsement.) is preferred but not mandatory.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Responsible for routine tire maintenance and daily fluid checks on buses; assist mechanics with repair task serving and repairing automobiles, buses, trucks and other motorized equipment to include preventative maintenance and component repair or overhaul. The Automotive Service Worker must produce legible documents of repairs made on work orders and perform vehicle refueling and routine service. Perform other related duties as assigned.

GENERAL DEFINITION AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS OF WORK: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employees to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Automotive Service Workers must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time. Must exhibit manual dexterity to operate equipment. Be able to see and read printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical ability to bend, stoop and reach overhead. Must be capable of pushing/pulling 50 pounds; lift/move up to 50 pounds for at least 50 pounds; lift/move up to 50 pounds for at least 50 feet.

PAY SCHEDULE: Unified Pay Schedule, Pay Grade 106

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 260 Days (12 months)

FLSA: Non-exempt
