General Description:
Richmond Public Schools (RPS) is seeking a results-oriented Talent professional to serve as Chief Talent Officer (CTO) of its 24,000 student system. The CTO’s mission is to transform the HR system from a traditional transactional structure to a strategic arm of the administration that attracts the best and brightest to teach, lead and serve in RPS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a comprehensive human capital strategy around strategic recruitment and hiring, performance management, retention, benefits/compensation, and employee development
- Support the three Talent Office Departments (Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, and Benefits/Compensation) in setting and meeting ambitious performance goals
- Coach Directors to effectively manage their teams, including developing skills such as delivering feedback, facilitating difficult conversations, and setting and monitoring ambitious team goals
- Evaluate performance of direct reports against Office goals
- Maintain strong customer service oriented climate by ensuring the Office provides helpful, responsive, and timely support to employees and prospective staff
- Modernize, consolidate, and monitor human capital systems to institutionalize and develop scale processes
- Serve on the senior leadership team, act as strategic advisor, functional expert, and thought partner on organizational issues as well as key talent acquisition, employee relations, and benefits/compensation strategies
- Demonstrate integrity and clarity in all communications and interactions
Qualifications:
- At least 7 years of senior level experience
- Human capital work experience preferred
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Public Administration preferred
- Society of Human Resources Management or Human Capital Institute certification preferred
