General Description:
The Fiscal Associate I position is responsible for performing accounting functions to facilitate the overall efficiency of the Transportation Department in the area of payroll.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares payroll information for data entry and submission to Finance.
- Checks, verifies, and analyzes a variety of payroll data to locate and correct errors and to solve problems.
- Maintains payroll database by updating job assignments and locations, as needed.
- Maintains personnel files for new, existing, and terminated employees.
- Maintains budgeted position control and notifies the Director of Transportation of position vacancies.
- Communicates effectively in response to questions related to payroll related matters.
- Performs a wide variety of clerical and account-keeping tasks.
- Sets up and maintains filing systems and office processes.
- Maintains and keeps confidential files of correspondence, forms, reports, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience in payroll, office practices, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills.
- Possess a willingness and ability to adjust to change and learn new tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and able to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner with all employees, school administration, business and community representatives.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and the internet.
