General Description:

Night Security ensures RPS buildings are secure after hours.  Night security proactively patrols buildings as well as responds to emergencies as needed.  Night security also supports building maintenance with light facilities and custodial work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

●        Opens and secures buildings, as needed; maintains schedules of evening/weekend activities in schools

●        Responds to emergencies as needed (including, but not limited to water damage, break-ins and fires)

●        Conducts routine patrols to make sure buildings and property are secure; troubleshoots electronic building security protection systems as needed

●        Requests assistance from maintenance personnel, police and fire departments when needed; submits work requests

●        Coordinates with Custodial Supervisors to ensure building security and cleanliness at the end of custodial staff shifts; performs light custodial work/cleaning efforts

●        Makes minor repairs to building windows, doors, plumbing, electrical, etc.

●        Prepares written and electronic reports about night activities throughout the division

●        Works with emergency teams during snow removal, weather related emergencies, and other special circumstances

●        Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

●        High school diploma or its equivalent required

●        At least 3 years of experience in building maintenance, grounds and/or custodial services

●        Knowledge of/experience with hand and power tools and cleaning equipment (wet vacuum, burnisher, etc.)

●        Ability to make minor repairs

●        Ability to works nights, weekends and holidays

●        Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently

●        Ability to walk extensively

●        Knowledge with Microsoft Office experience, specifically Word and Excel

●        Ability to communicate effectively (orally and written)

●        Possesses a valid Virginia Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record

●        Bilingual/fluency in Spanish preferred
