Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership in operation of programs and ensures a high level of quality throughout all meal programs
  • Develops and implements the School Nutrition Services strategic plan for marketing, social media, and nutrition education with approval by the Director
  • Analyzes Key Performance Indicator data to ensure that key performances are met
  • Develop and assist with the implementation of the At-Risk Meal program, district-wide, along with marketing and partnerships with community strategies for all meal programs, while working within a defined budget
  • Coordinates and conducts student focus groups and menu advisory committees to communicate and solicit input on menus
  • Develops and administers customer service surveys and communicates results as directed
  • Assists SNS Director with determining projects and assignments for dietic interns/partners from the community
  • Assists with various projects from conception, development, establishment and evaluation
  • Assist with school taste testing and community events to promote school nutrition
  • Supervises dietetic interns and community partners that support nutrition education / wellness projects, Farm to School/Garden and other school division initiatives that incorporate and promote nutrition / wellness
  • Develops robust relationships with community groups such as PTO’s, Extension and Department of Health who serve as resources for SNS programs
  • Assists the Director in collaborating with district and community childhood wellness / obesity initiatives
  • Assist with implementing Farm to School / Garden initiatives in schools
  • Communicates with and acts as a liaison between managers, employees, students, principals, faculty members and parents
  • Trains SNS Managers in the improvement of marketing and communication skills and SNS Supervisors on methods and best practices for presentations
  • Establishes content and the timing of social media and departmental website updates
  • Act as the Department Webmaster

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in public health, nutrition, dietetics, food science, hospitality, culinary or related field required
  • Master’s degree a plus
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in hospitality management, nutrition, and/or marketing
  • Registered and/or licensed dietitian-required
  • SNS credential level 3 required or must obtain SNS School Nutrition Specialist credential within 2 years of hires
  • Must have School Nutrition Association Level 3 Certificate or School Nutrition Specialist credential required.
  • Must have strong customer centered focus experience in a large corporation food service operation or K-12 school system that participates in USDA: National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program and Child and Adult Care Food Programs (At-Risk Supper and Snack, SFSP)
  • Must possess in depth working knowledge of laws and regulations governing USDA programs
  • Must have good understanding of the importance of technology and automation in data capture and analysis
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize tasks, is detail-oriented, goal driven, and is willing to learn and assume responsibility
  • Well-rounded with a flexible attitude and an ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational, management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively written, verbal and social media channels
  • Must have strong oral presentation skills with the ability to engage students and audiences
  • Must have highly developed organization skills, time-management, utilization and working knowledge / skills in computer software applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, K-12 Meal Accountability POS & USDA approved menu planning software (preferred), Microsoft Office (required), Social Media
  • Must have working knowledge and experience using social media including iMove, lumen5, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat, Hootsuite
  • Understand the importance of technology and automation in data capture and analysis via social media platforms, i.e., YouTube, Adobe, Quick Base, etc.
