General Description:
The Photographer/Videographer is responsible for capturing, editing, organizing, and publishing all forms of visual media with a focus on photography and videography to assist in increasing student and family engagement, and in telling the story of Richmond Public Schools.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

●        Leads photography and videography production for the division

●        Operates, maintains, and sets-up all photography, video, audio and lighting equipment

●        Produces, edits, and publishes public-facing photo and video media in print and on division outreach platforms

●        Interviews individuals and attends meetings and events to obtain content

●        Co-leads trainings for school-based and division staff on social media, photography, and videography

●        Establishes and maintains a cross-team organized content management system that enables ease of distribution and access to materials in electronic and print formats

●        Ensures that materials are translated into Spanish and other needed languages, and are published in coordination with Language Support Services

●        Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

●        Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in Communications, Photography, Videography, Kinetic Imaging, Advertising or a related field preferred

●        Three to five years relevant professional photography and videography experience

●        Proficient using a PC and MacOS based computer, including proficiency with MacOS, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite

●        Proficient in hosting virtual meetings, including but not limited to Zoom, Google Meet, and live streaming to Facebook or YouTube.

●        Skilled in using DLSR, video, audio and lighting equipment

●        Strong photo and video editing skills including proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premiere, InDesign), and iMove

●        Proficiency with major social media platforms, including, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter

●        Strong visual composition skills, sophisticated design and layout sensibilities, creative visual solutions

●        Strong written and verbal communication skills, including being able to communicate to a wide audience using inclusive language; ability to edit written materials preferred

●        Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

●        Strong organizational skills, including keen attention to detail

●        Ability to work a flexible schedule and regularly participate in evening and weekend events

●        Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds of RPS families

●        Physical capabilities and sensory skills to effectively use and operate various digital equipment; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to carry equipment

●        Possession of a valid Virginia Driver’s License and access to personally owned personal vehicle

●        Bilingual/proficiency in Spanish preferred
