General Description:
The School Health Attendant provides various levels of support to the school health services department including health office support, health office supply distribution, electronic health record (EHR) data entry, and technology support, as well as assists school health services staff with supporting students’ overall wellness. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

●        Provides clinic support to Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses as assigned

●        Provides clinic coverage as needed under the supervision of Licensed Practical Nurse and or Registered Nurse

●        Provides the school health services department with technology support

●        Assists with maintaining health office inventory by delivering clinic supplies and helping maintain emergency stock of undesignated epinephrine auto injectors and albuterol inhalers

●        Assists school nurses with creating, maintaining, and organizing cumulative health records

●        Assists with preparing for  staff meetings and professional development

●        Performs other duties as assigned


●        Certified Nursing Assistant certificate required (issued by the Commonwealth of VA Department of Health Professions)

●        Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED

●        At least two years experience working in a school health office setting

●        Experience with various computer programs, Microsoft Office and Google Suites, and school health services electronic health record systems

●        Knowledge of communicable disease prevention hygiene and sanitation protocols

●        Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas simply and succinctly

●        Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including school health services staff and school leaders

●        Strong organizational skills, including keen attention to detail

●        Ability to lift objects up to 40 pounds and moving of students weighing up to 150 pounds with assistive equipment

●        Bilingual/fluency in Spanish preferred
