Athletics
Richmond Public Schools is committed to excellence in athletics as part of our broader commitment to excellence in education. We believe physical activity plays an important role in healthy growth and development, and that interscholastic athletics help build character traits that support success in school and in life.
Our athletics program offers middle and high school students the opportunity to compete, grow, and reach their highest potential. Through participation, student-athletes develop discipline, teamwork, goal setting, and strong character, while gaining an appreciation for healthy living and lifelong learning.
RPS provides a wide range of athletic opportunities supported by quality coaching and supervision. Student-athletes are encouraged to strengthen both their academic performance and sportsmanship as essential parts of the experience.
Sports offerings include football, cross country, volleyball, basketball, track and field, softball, baseball, wrestling, tennis, golf, soccer, forensics, and cheerleading. Many sports are available for both boys and girls, with junior varsity and varsity levels offered at the high school level.
