Title IX Basics
Richmond Public Schools is committed to upholding Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. All public and private elementary and secondary schools, school districts, colleges, and universities that receive federal funds must comply with Title IX.
Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment, stalking, sexual coercion, and sexual violence, including rape, sexual assault, and sexual battery.
Any person may report sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, in person, by mail, by telephone, or by email to a Title IX Coordinator. Reports may be submitted by email to Title IX Referrals: titleixreferrals@rvaschools.net
