Building relationships, bettering outcomes
Our Family and Community Engagement Department works explicitly and intentionally to reduce chronic absenteeism through authentic home-school partnerships. To do this, we support school and family stakeholders in building strong relationships by linking decision-making to learning, affirming differences, and sharing power among stakeholders.
Our team of family liaisons and coordinators are on the front lines of this work: Located in every RPS school, we are equipped to connect families and community partners to resources within schools. As a result of the F&CE team’s work, we’ve successfully reduced chronic absenteeism by more than 15 percent in the last three years. This directly correlates to improved academic success and higher graduation rate.
