Grants Monitoring & Compliance

Guiding Compliance. Securing Success.

Logo for the Grant Monitoring & Compliance Department, featuring a yellow circle with 'RPS'.

The Grants Monitoring and Compliance Department monitors spending practices and ensures that local, state and federal funds are used as intended.

Each year, RPS receives millions of local, state and federal funds to help students reach their full potential by ensuring they have access to a free and appropriate education. The Department of Grant Monitoring and Compliance works collaboratively to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal guidelines in the administration of over $100 million in grant funding, supporting both instructional and operational initiatives across the school division.

The department also works collaboratively with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and the US Department of Education (USDOE) to foster the execution of federal, state and locally awarded grants. This collaboration between the Local Education Agency (LEA)  and State and Federal agencies support the timely submission of reports and required documentation to strengthen the compliance and monitoring efforts of the Richmond City Public School System.

The Grants Management Department is responsible for:

  • Grant writing and development
  • Grant tracking and records
