PK - 8th Grade 2022 Summer School Information

PK - 8th Grade Summer Newsletter (Coming Soon!)

RPS PK-8th Grade 2022 Summer School will be in person and will provide intensive Reading and Mathematics remediation for students whose learning has been significantly impacted by the pandemic and other factors. The summer program will offer:

  • Intensive Reading Remediation
  • Intensive Mathematics Remediation
  • Social-Emotional Learning
  • Enrichment (STEM, Fine Art, CTE, PE, etc.)
  • Newcomer Academy

Students invited to attend summer school will receive letters from their home school with personalized QR codes and/or links to register. These links are unique to each student and may not be shared. Please reach out to your student's home school with questions about summer school student identification. Preschool summer students must be registered for Kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year. The last day for PK - 8th Grade summer school registration is May 30, 2022.

Dates: June 29 to August 3 (Monday-Thursday)

PK - 5th Grade Hours: 8:00am - 2:30pm

6th Grade - 8th Grade Hours: 9:00am - 3:30pm

RPS 2022 High School Summer School will take place for all students at the Richmond Technical Center. All classes will meet in person and students must attend class. Students must adhere to the summer school attendance policy outlined in the FAQ document (link). Registration ends June 22, 2022 at 5:00pm.

Dates: June 29-July 28 (Monday-Thursday)

Session A: 8:30a.m. - 11:30a.m.

Session B: 12:30p.m. - 3:30p.m.

Summer Graduation: July 28, 4:00 p.m. at Huguenot High school. 

RPS will offer 4 High School Paths in Summer 2022: 

Path 1 (Free for RPS students)

For Seniors (ONLY):  Initial Credit/Credit Recovery - Seniors who need additional courses to graduate this summer may take up to two (2) courses.  Students must attend in person for each class. Students needing only one (1) course should sign up for Session A.

Path 2 (Free for RPS students)

For 9th -11th Graders (also 8th Graders in HS credit bearing courses): Credit Recovery (did not pass course) - Students who need to recover credit(s) can take no more than two (2) courses. Students must attend in person for each class. Students needing only one (1) credit recovery class should sign up for Session A.

Path 3

Online PE 9, Online PE 10, or Driver’s Ed Theory w/no behind the wheel (free for RPS students): Students who wish to take these courses may do so for initial credit.

Driver's Ed. Behind the Wheel (Cost - $200):  After you register, you will be contacted at the email and/or phone number provided with next steps for scheduling behind the wheel sessions and completing the online requirements. Please contact Dr. Stefanie Ramsey at for more information.

Path 4 (Free for RPS Students)

SOL Academy:  Students who need remediation and testing for an End of Course SOL test may sign up for SOL Academy remediation. SOL testing will start the third week of summer school.  Students must attend in person and will have teacher support. Students needing only one (1) SOL Academy remediation class should sign up for Session A.

Registration Information

Students needing two (2) sessions may combine courses in the following ways: 

  • Students can take two (2) courses
  • Students can take one (1) course and one (1) SOL Academy remediation class,
  • Students can take two (2) SOL  Academy remediation classes.

*Students needing an initial credit/credit recovery course AND SOL Academy remediation should sign up for the course in Session A and SOL Academy remediation in Session B. 

Transportation Information

Transportation will be provided to the Richmond Technical Center from neighborhood locations. The schedule is as follows:

  1. All students picked up from summer bus stops for Session A
  2. Students taking one class return to summer bus stops from Session A (ending at 11:30am)
  3. Students taking two classes return to summer bus stops from Session B (ending at 3:30pm)

*Buses will not bring students to Session B only so students needing only one class should sign up for Session A
